The Suzuki Method

Suzuki violin lessons consist of both a weekly private lesson and group lesson. The Suzuki method is based on language learning in which the student initially learns to play by ear. The student and parent share this experience by attending lessons and group class together. The parent takes notes at lessons and then practices daily with the child helping them to complete the weekly assignment. In this way the young child has constant direction and parent support in home practices. Listening to a recording of the Suzuki violin repertoire is a big part of the learning process, just as it is in language learning, along with imitation and repetition in the lessons and practices.
