Private and Group Violin Lessons in the Suzuki Method

Private Lessons
and Daily Practice

  • Practice every day!  Daily practice will ensure steady progress and this makes instrumental study the most fun!

  • Listen to your Suzuki recording every day.  It is suggested that you attend concerts and listen to lots of music on the radio as well. Youtube is another great source for seeing and hearing performances by great artists.

  • Parents attend each lesson and group class and take notes.  Your participation and complete attention will ensure the sucess of your child.  Pleae come prepared to lesson/group with pencils and notebook.  Please - no calling texting, or reading during the lessons.

  • Taking pictures and video recordings of the lesson proceedings is welcomed!

Group Classes

  • Saturday morning group classes are required for all students through Book 4.

  • Group class provides a time to solidify skills learned in the private lesson, work on solo and ensemble skills, note reading and theory as well as provides motivation for the students.

  • Students in Book 2 and above should bring a music stand and pencil to the group class.

  • Parents - please turn off all electronic devices during the group class.

  • Students studying Suzuki violin with a teacher outside of Cambridge Suzuki Violins can register for group classes with the approval of both the private and group teachers.

Summer Lessons

It is highly recommended that every student continue private lessons during the summer to keep the momentum going and to avoid loss of skills.

  • Summer lessons are available in June and July.  Skype lessons are also available during this time if you are out of town.  There are no lessons in August.

  • Because of the changing nature of summer camp and vacation schedules, summer lessons are by appointment and are scheduled week to week.

  • There are no group lessons in the summer, but it is recommended the you consider attending a Suzuki Institute or summer music camp.  More information is available from me or is available on the SAA website.
