Fall 2021 Cambridge Suzuki Violins COVID-19 Lesson/Group policies. (updated 8/22/2021)

Updated: Aug 24

Dear Families,

I am planning to continue in-person lessons this Fall of 2021, though I am not able to guarantee them. Lessons may be online, on-site, or a combination of the two, depending on the unfolding situation, and local and state guidelines. I am committed to both your safety, and to giving you the best possible and most consistent learning experience in either format.

These policies may be updated and/or change as we come closer to the semester or once the semester has started. All class content, class & concert schedule and concert rep, are subject to change. Please be flexible.

For Private Lessons:

  • Masks will be required at all times of everyone, regardless of vaccination status. This includes all common areas of CMC and in my personal studio lessons and classes.

  • If the student or anyone in your house has any symptoms of illness, PLEASE STAY HOME, and text me so that we can log on for a virtual lesson for that day. (coughing, fever, sneezing, sore throat, or general signs of sickness)

  • If a student is exhibiting any signs of illness at the lesson they will be sent home.

  • Students may have one parent attend the lesson, though I am encouraging all students over the age of 10 to have solo lessons and take this opportunity to develop their independence in the lesson. Parents may Zoom in if they would like.

  • No siblings or visitors will be allowed at the lessons. Please leave siblings and visitors at home.

  • Please wash hands with soap when you arrive. I will scrub my hands before every lesson and class.

  • I will end lessons about 5 minutes early to allow the student to quickly pack up and leave the lesson room and to allow me enough time to disinfect touched surfaces before the next person enters. Please wait to enter until I invite you into the studio.

  • Students will bring their own supplies to lessons: music, rosin, pencils, notebook, tuner, shoulder rest, rubber bands and any other accessories. There will be no sharing of any supplies during the lessons.

For Group Classes -

  • Masks will be required at all times of everyone, regardless of vaccination status, inside and outside. This includes all common areas of CMC and also in my personal and group studio.

  • If the student or anyone in your house has any symptoms of illness, PLEASE STAY HOME, (coughing, sneezing, sore throat, fever, or general signs of sickness)

  • If a student is exhibiting any signs of illness at the group class they will be sent home.

  • Group classes will be outdoors in the CMC parking lot as long as the weather allows. I will try to have as many outdoor classes as I can. Parents are welcome at outdoor group classes.

  • In-door group classes will be students only. Parents will not be attending group classes unless the group class is outside. (Exceptions ** Pre-Twinkle and Book 1A groups - 1 parent may attend with the student. No siblings or visitors.)

  • For the duration of the pandemic, group classes will be 30-35 minutes long.

  • Please wash hands with soap when you arrive. I will scrub my hands before every lesson.

  • Bring your own supplies. There will be no sharing at all of any supplies. Please bring these items to every class: --Music stand --Wind clips (clothespins or giant paper clips for outdoor groups) --Music Folder with all printables AND Suzuki Books --Pencil --Tuner - If needed during group, your child will be tuning him/herself. Please tune before leaving home and bring along to tune before lessons and groups. --Shoulder rest, Rosin, etc.

  • If you wish to attend group online, I plan to have a Zoom meeting going during all of my groups. An important note for group: For those attending group class online, I will have one admittance time for classes right at the start of class. Once I start teaching the group class, I will not be able to stop the group to keep checking for latecomers.

Cambridge Music Consortium Vaccine Requirement

In an effort to promote health and safety for all, beginning Monday, September 13, 2021, the Cambridge Music Consortium will require all users of the facility who are eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine to be fully vaccinated. Documented medical exceptions will be granted.

Please expect to be asked by your teacher about your vaccination status.
