Cambridge Suzuki Violins Fall 2020 COVID-19 Lesson/Group policies. (updated 8/22/2020)

Updated: Sep 9

These policies may be updated and/or change as we come closer to the semester or once the semester has started.

Dear Families,

Right now, I am planning to reopen my studio for in-person lessons for the Fall of 2020. As the pandemic continues, I may be able to offer on-site lessons, though I am not able to guarantee them. Lessons may be on-screen, on-site, or a combination of the two, depending on the unfolding situation, and local and state guidelines. I am committed to both your safety, and to giving you the best possible learning experience in either format.

For in person lessons:

If anyone in your house has any symptoms of illness, PLEASE STAY HOME, and text me so that we can log on for a virtual lesson for that day. (coughing, fever, sneezing, sore throat, or general signs of sickness)

If a student is exhibiting any signs of illness at the lesson they will be sent home.

Everyone must wear a mask while on CMC premises.

The waiting room at CMC is no longer open for waiting before or during students’ lessons. CMC is asking that students wait in their cars before lessons and be dropped off at the door at the lesson time.

I will text you at the end of my previous lesson when it is time for your child to come in.

Students age 10 and over will be taking solo lessons until the pandemic passes. Parents will be asked to remain in the car or take a walk during the lesson.

Students age 9 or younger may have one parent attend the lesson. No siblings or visitors will be allowed in lessons.

I will end lessons a few minuets earlier than I normally do to allow the student to quickly pack up and leave the lesson room and to allow me enough time to disinfect touched surfaces before the next person enters.

I will invite the next student into the room after the room has been disinfected.

Please wash hands with soap and water before leaving your home. I will ask students to disinfect hands before the lesson starts. I will scrub my hands before every lesson.

Please use the restroom before you leave home to travel to CMC. The fewer people using the CMC restroom, the better for all of us.

I have re-organized my studio to provide ample distance between you and me. I will only come closer than 6 feet when I must, but will mostly maintain my distance.

Students will bring their own supplies to lessons: music, rosin, pencils, notebook, tuner, shoulder rest, rubber bands and any other accessories. There will be no sharing of any supplies during the lessons.

Group Classes -

Group classes will be smaller than in previous years, most likely no more than 5 or 6 students.

In-door group classes will be students only. Parents will not be attending group classes unless the group class is outside. I will try to do outdoor groups as much as I can. (exception Pre-Twinkle and Book 1A groups - 1 parent may attend with the student. No siblings or visitors).

Like private lessons, parents will be asked to drop students at the door to the building.

For the duration of the pandemic, group classes will be 30-35 minutes long.

Bring your own supplies. There will be no sharing at all of any supplies. Please bring to every class: --Music stand

--Wind clips (clothespins or giant paper clips for outdoor groups) --Music Folder with all printables AND Suzuki Books --Pencil --Tuner - If needed during group, your child will be tuning him/herself. Please tune before leaving home. It will make it so much easier to get the group started. --Rosin

--Shoulder rest

--Rubber bands

If you wish to attend group online, I plan to have a Zoom meeting going during all of my groups. An important note for group: For those attending group class online, I will have one admittance time for classes right at the start of class.  Once I start teaching the group class, I will not be able to stop the group to keep checking for latecomers.

If anyone in your house has any symptoms of illness, PLEASE STAY HOME, and text me so that we can log on for a virtual lesson for that day. (coughing, sneezing, sore throat, fever, or general signs of sickness)

If a student is exhibiting any signs of illness at the lesson they will be sent home.

All class content, class & concert schedule and concert rep, are subject to change. Please be flexible.

These policies may be updated and/or changed as we come closer to the semester or once the semester has started.
